Ginataang Hipon with Kalabasa and Sitaw (Shrimp in Coconut Milk)

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 kilo shrimp
  • 1 head garlic (crushed)
  • Coconut milk from 3 large coconuts (gata)
  • 2 cups squash (peeled and cubed)
  • 2 cups string beans (cut into 2 inch pieces) 
  • 6 kamias 
  • 2-3 small chili (siling labuyo)
  • 1/4 cup fish sauce (patis)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 
PROCEDURE
  1. In a pot, boil coconut milk over medium heat
  2. Add in garlic, squash and string beans. Boil for 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender
  3. Add shrimps, kamias, siling labuyo, pepper and fish sauce. 
  4. Boil for 10-15 minutes or until coconut thickens. Stir occasionally. 
  5. Serve hot.
